Last year, I wrote a post on Tumblr about my target country to work at as a nurse. It was a few months after that post where I got an invite to an agency for a job interview from a hospital in UK. That was the only agency I sent my resume to a year prior to that just because I thought “Why not?” then forgot about it until they called. Unlike my other co-nurses who frantically search for job openings abroad everyday, I only sent an application to one agency called OMANFIL as it was recommended to me by a relative saying that it has a good reputation. As for other agencies that deploy nurses to UK from the Philippines, there’s also Drake, IPAMS and ASC. You can go to the OMANFIL website for more info, their contact number and job openings but it is barely updated so I suggest calling them if you want to find out the latest jobs posts.
Fast forward from last year to 2 days ago, I was sitting in a waiting area full of families, individuals and couples who are eagerly waiting for their number to be called while constantly checking on their papers and documents if they have it complete, signed or photocopied. I have seen strangers talking to each other and I was just there sitting quietly and thinking back to my old post in Tumblr where this was all just a blogged goal and there were no solid plans laid out in front of me.
In less than an hour my number was called so I proceeded to my designated counter and submitted all my documents. The woman checked all of it and gave me a satisfying “it makes my job easier to see a complete set of documents” and so I paid for the courier fee, completed my biometrics and exited the building of VFS Global.
I am aware that I would still have to go through the agony of waiting if my visa is approved or not but looking back at that old post, I still could not believe I have gotten this far. I was amazed at how God orchestrated everything for me and I will be forever be thankful to Him.
I will be posting a detailed “How To” on UK visa application soon.
